Kendra Hardnett

Kendra L. Hardnett, owner of KLH Insurance, is a natural entrepreneur who wanted to pursue a professional insurance career. It has been her dream to have a successful business career. She was a shift manager at Pizza Hut for three years and that experience taught her how to address customers in a professional manner, which helped her to become the businessperson that she is today. In December 2004 she walked across the stage and received a bachelor’s degree in Political Science. Kendra continued to work as she decided what would be the next step in her life. Kendra began working for an insurance company and gained interest in it. She liked the idea that it put smiles on the customers’ faces by securing them with insurance on their home, auto, or business.

In October 2006 Kendra opened up The Tax Station, which is an income tax preparation service. She originally ran the operation from her home but moved to the business section of Baton Rouge when it outgrew her home-based operation. During tax year 2006, she had 89 clients, and in Tax year 2007 she had 288 clients, tripling clientele in a year. Kendra loved the tax business and plans to keep it open for as long as the business permits. As tax season came to a close, being that it was only seasonal Kendra began to wonder what her plan would be for her career. She just kept thinking of how I loved working for an insurance agent.

In November 2006 Kendra attended Bob Brooks School of Insurance and Real Estate to obtain an individual Property and Casualty license. Once her license was obtained, she proceeded with the process of obtaining an agency license. On April 16, 2008, the Louisiana Insurance Commissioner issued her agency license and from that point on she has been pressing to get new clients.
